Dr Túri Istvánné (born Molnár Éva Anna), Évike, Éva néni, our Mother, passed away on 31 August 2012.
She was born on 28 February 1938 in Lengyeltóti, a village in Somogy county. She spent most of her childhood here and in her memory it always represented an idyllic, happy and carefree life. The political upheavals after the war caused much bitterness for her and her parents. At the age of 21 she moved to Pest to the Soroksár Experimental Farm of the University of Horticulture, where her love of plants and her outstanding organisational skills were quickly recognised.
After completing her horticultural technical schooling, she was entrusted with complex, practical experimental tasks, which she always carried out with great precision with the help of her work team at the time. From the early 1970s she began growing roses in a small-scale, household setting. Using traditional bare-root production technology, over many years and together with her husband she developed the method of growing roses in pots. Its advantages were the exceptionally good establishment rate and the reliable maintenance of varietal purity.
After the political changes of the early 1990s, the household-scale horticulture developed into a business which, in addition to potted rose production, also involved other annual and perennial plants. From the late 1990s, through her work and perseverance, she laid the foundations for the results achieved by PharmaRosa® Ltd today.
As a mother, she is unforgettable.
