The system behind the rose – how PharmaRosa® works
If origin, varietal authenticity and reliable quality matter to you, it is worth seeing the system in the background as well. On this page, from the history of our nursery to how we operate today, we show how container-grown quality has become our own-root, traceable system: identification, plot management, plant passport and quality assurance.

Research mindset as the basis of horticulture
The roots of our nursery go back to 1960: Dr István Túri, pepper breeder, and his wife founded the farm. From the very beginning, a research and breeding mindset has shaped how we work. Introducing new varieties and varietal types into cultivation and implementing new cultivation technologies created a development culture that still underpins PharmaRosa® today.
The direction of rose production and container-grown quality
From the early 1970s the family started to specialise in rose production. Drawing on experience in traditional bare-root cultivation, the practice of container-grown rose production was developed over many years of work. Its greatest value has become the consistently maintained reliable rooting ability and varietal authenticity.
Becoming a business and ensuring family continuity
After 1992 the nursery developed into a business, and from the late 1990s the persistent work based on container-grown rose production laid the foundations for the current success of PharmaRosa® Ltd. Since the founders passed away, the business has continued under family management: versatility, a development-driven approach and professional discipline are still part of every decision we make.
The turning point: adaptation and a solution unique in Europe
Economic and labour market changes after 2018 brought a new situation. We did not respond with mere “survival tactics”, but with a new, stable cultivation and sales model: uniquely in Europe, we have developed the propagation and growing of own-root roses across our entire assortment.
Today we cultivate more than 1,500 varieties, and behind this wide range there is not a random stock, but a centrally managed system.

How the PharmaRosa® system works today
The essence of how we operate today: transparent origin, traceable processes, consistent professional standards. The goal is that every rose – whatever the variety or format – reliably delivers the quality its name promises.
Controlled foundation: uniform propagation material
Every process starts from the PharmaRosa® NEONATAL® rooted cutting, which is the basis of propagation. This ensures that varietal purity and consistent quality are not a “hope”, but a core principle of the system.
Plot-based growing: batch identification and a traceable journey
Growing takes place on designated, identified plots. Roses are managed in batches, so their journey from plot to packing is fully traceable. This is not only about organisation, but also about real security: if there is any deviation, we can act quickly and in a targeted way.
Plant passport and transparent origin
Roses that are packed for dispatch are issued with a plant passport (Plant Passport). This means that you receive not only a beautiful plant, but also the backing of a production system whose origin and compliance are clearly traceable.
Two sales models – one principle: clarity
Our system includes two sales models:
• Mediated sales, where the seller is the agricultural primary producer (this is indicated on the product page).
• Direct sales, where the seller is PharmaRosa® Ltd.
In both cases the common point is that the process is transparent and you clearly see all essential information.
Quality assurance: discipline, accountability, rapid intervention
For us, quality is not a final inspection, but part of everyday operations:
• batch identification and traceability,
• controlled plant protection practice,
• stock and plot management suitable for official inspections,
• blocking system: immediate action to protect quality in the event of any deviation.

What does this mean for you as a customer?
PharmaRosa® is unique in that it puts a system behind every rose: a consistent propagation base, identifiable growing conditions, documented origin and uniform professional responsibility. This is how, even with a wide assortment, we can maintain an operation in which quality, varietal authenticity and transparency are not just promises, but everyday practice.
A rose is a living plant – with natural variation. Our work focuses on everything that can be controlled (origin, varietal authenticity, growing discipline, traceability, packing and information) so that every order is fulfilled to the same high standard.
