Origin and breeding
Bred by Henry H. Marshall at Agriculture Canada, Morden Research Station, from ‘Fire King’ × (‘J.W. Fargo’ × ‘Assiniboine’); breeding in 1964, introduced and registered in 1977 as a robust hardy shrub.
Growth and structure
Bushy shrub, about 85–115 cm high and 105–135 cm wide, moderately thorny with fairly dense, dark green, glossy foliage, forming a rounded, well-branched shape suitable for bedding, edging and low hedging.
Flower morphology
Semi-double, cup-shaped clusters, 13–25 petals per bloom, medium size at approximately 4–7 cm across, borne in trusses, repeating well through the season with an abundant second flush after initial flowering.
