Origin and breeding
Bred by André Delbard-Chabert in France from ‘Sultane’ × ‘Queen Elizabeth’; introduced and registered in 1965 by Pépinières et Roseraies Georges Delbard and distributed in France and the United Kingdom.
Growth and structure
Strong, upright, very bushy shrub reaching about 140–180 cm in height with a 100–140 cm spread; moderately dense, slightly glossy dark green foliage with a bronze tinge and a moderately thorny framework.
Flower morphology
Large, double, cup-shaped solitary blooms, 2.75–3.95 inches across, with 26–39 petals; hybrid tea form on medium-height stems, remontant with a plentiful second flowering later in the season.
Colour and phenology
Closed buds deep amber yellow; freshly opened flowers golden-yellow with soft pink edging, maturing to apricot and fuchsia pink, then deep carmine to crimson-red with beige-toned edges as they age.
