Groundcover shrub rose from the Ground cover collection. Registered as VELroso, traded as Fil des Saisons ® Groundcover VELroso; ARS exhibition name Fil des Saisons. Name refers to the continuity of the seasons.
Origin and breeding
Bred by Ann Velle Boudolf for Lens Roses, Belgium. Parentage unknown. Introduced and registered in 2003 by Lens Roses, with primary classification as a groundcover shrub rose for garden use.
Awards and recognitions
Gold medal, Rome International Rose Competition 2003, recognising ornamental and garden performance. Gold medal at Kortrijk (Courtrai) Rose Competition 2008, confirming long-term reliability and decorative value.
Growth and structure
Low, spreading habit 30–55 cm high with 60–120 cm spread, forming dense, light-green, glossy foliage. Moderately thorny shoots, excellent ground-covering effect with good weed suppression once established.
Flower morphology
Small single flowers, 0.5–1.5 inches, borne in large clusters. Flat form with 5–12 petals. Repeat-flowering with a notably abundant second flush, providing extended seasonal flowering and a light, airy appearance.
