HEXY – pink climbing rose
If You dream of a front garden that looks romantic without demanding constant attention, HEXY is a graceful large-flowered climbing rose that rewards simple, regular care. Its mid-pink rosette blooms appear in generous clusters along 3–4 m canes, giving reliable, season-long colour that suits Irish homes from neat suburban drives to relaxed cottage walls. On an own-root plant the framework develops steadily, giving lasting structure and good regeneration over the years, so Your rose keeps its shape and ornamental value even after harsher winters or windy spells. The very full flowers are pleasantly, sweetly scented, lighting up pergolas, fences and arches with an inviting, lived-in charm. Plant in sun, ensure reasonable drainage even on heavier soils typical of our wetter climate, and HEXY will combine long-term lifespan with straightforward maintenance. Over time it settles into Your garden’s rhythm, building roots in year one, strong shoots in year two and full, abundant flowering by year three, giving You the reassuring feeling that this climber simply works.
HEXY shows a very full, rosette-shaped bloom form.
Freshly opened flower of Hexy, showing bright mid-pink outer petals and a softer pastel pink centre.
Closed bud of HEXY climbing rose, showing a lively pink tone.

Target area
Reason
Front-garden pergola by the entrance
Large, very full pink blooms with a clear rosette form give an immediate romantic welcome, turning even a modest pergola into a soft floral archway that feels considered yet informal for beginners
Rose arch over a garden path
The 3–4 m creeping growth lets You train flexible canes over an arch, creating a tunnel of colour that defines the garden layout without needing complex pruning plans for busy-owners
Sunny fence in a family back garden
Good repeat flowering with an abundant second flush keeps colour on the boundary for much of the season, helping a simple post-and-rail or wire fence look finished and loved for homeowners
Wall of a cottage-style house
Dense, slightly glossy dark green foliage forms a stable leafy screen that softens brick or render and keeps its presence even between flowering waves, ideal where You want gentle coverage for cottage-gardeners
Small group planting on a long boundary
Medium disease resistance and moderate care needs mean that, with basic spraying if required, HEXY stays tidy and flowering without demanding constant attention across several plants for time-poor-gardeners
Feature climber in a mixed border
Own-root plants develop their framework in situ, giving long-lived, regenerating plants that adapt to Your soil and routine and continue to flower reliably year after year for long-term-planners
Coastal or exposed suburban site
Robust canes, dense foliage and reliable hardiness cope well with breezier spots typical of Irish gardens, especially where wetter weather and heavier soils call for thoughtful drainage planning for Atlantic-gardeners
Large container on a sunny patio or balcony (min. 40–50 L)
Self-cleaning blooms and medium, sweet fruity fragrance offer a tidy, scented display at nose height; in a generous container it is easy to water, feed and enjoy up close for patio-rose-lovers

Technical cultivar profile
Parameter
Data
Name and registration
HEXY – pink climbing rose (MACrexy). Large-flowered climbing rose from the pharmaROSA® ORIGINAL range, offered as an own-root, container-grown climber for garden, arch, fence and wall use.
Origin and breeding
Climbing rose discovered by pharmaROSA®, Germany, before 1984. Parentage and breeding company data are unknown; introduced and distributed by PharmaRosa® Ltd. as a verified, premium-quality garden variety.
Growth and structure
Vigorous climber with creeping habit, typically 300–400 cm high and 60–120 cm spread. Produces long, trainable canes with dense, dark green, slightly glossy foliage and moderate prickliness along stems.
Flower morphology
Large, very full rosette flowers with more than 40 petals, generally borne in clusters. Bloom size in the large range (approximately 7–10 cm), providing a richly petalled, classic garden rose appearance.
Colour and phenology
Clean mid-pink blooms with slightly paler outer petals. Colour lightens a little in strong sun but holds better in cooler conditions. Flowers from early summer with a strong first flush and abundant repeat.
Fragrance and aroma
Medium-strength, noticeable scent with a sweet, fruity character. Best appreciated when flowers are at mid-open stage on warm, still days, adding an extra sensory layer near seating or paths.
Rose hip characteristics
Due to its very double flowers, hip set is generally sparse; where formed, hips are small, spherical, around 6–10 mm in diameter, coloured orange-red (RHS 40A) and primarily of ornamental interest.
Resistance and hardiness
Medium resistance to powdery mildew, black spot and rust; may need occasional preventive care. Hardy to approximately −21 to −18 °C (RHS H7), suitable for USDA zone 6b and comparable Irish conditions.
Horticultural recommendations
Best in full sun with fertile, well-drained soil. Allow 140–250 cm spacing depending on use. Ideal for arches, pergolas, fences and walls; provide support and light pruning, plus watering during prolonged drought.
HEXY – pink climbing rose offers romantic repeat flowering, a sweet fruity scent and long-lived, own-root reliability for arches, walls and pergolas, making it a reassuring, easy-going choice if You wish to plant once and enjoy for years to come.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”, but makes the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root production tangible: how the plant is built, what the root system is like and how the shoots renew themselves. The footage was therefore taken at different times, showing plants at different stages of development, so mixed leaf coverage or differing growth stages may appear in the videos. This is not a “sample” of the batch delivered, but an illustration of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical of the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown at the top of the product page.
