NAGYHAGYMÁS – pink bedding floribunda rose – Márk

With its soft pink flower clusters and bushy, low habit, NAGYHAGYMÁS is an easy-going choice when You want neat bedding or a compact hedge that simply looks good without demanding expert skills. This floribunda type creates a tidy, colourful effect in front gardens and smaller borders, particularly where sunny positions meet Ireland’s humid weather and heavier soils, as long as basic drainage is in place. Its once-a-year display gives a concentrated summer show of pink bloom clusters, ideal if You like a rose that performs strongly in its main season and then quietly holds green structure for the rest of the year. The moderately compact, bushy plants work well in family gardens where pathways, driveways or low hedges need softening without growing too tall. Own-root plants settle in gradually, forming a stable base that copes well with heat and brief dry spells, so You do not have to fuss constantly with watering. In a larger container of at least 40–50 litres, it can also frame a patio or balcony in coastal or urban settings, giving that classic cottage-garden look with practical, long-term reliability. Over the first three years it concentrates on roots, then shoots, then full ornamental value, helping You build a lasting rose feature with calm confidence.

Use cases

Target areaReason
Front garden flowerbed along a path or driveway NAGYHAGYMÁS forms a compact, bushy edge that stays low and tidy, so it frames entrances and paths without overwhelming them. The even pink clusters give a welcoming, uniform look that suits busy homeowners seeking easy-care.
Small group planting (3–5 plants) in a cottage-style bed Planted in a loose group, the soft mid-pink flowers create a romantic drift of colour that blends well with cranesbill or dwarf asters, giving a traditional cottage feel without complex design work for beginners.
Low rose hedge dividing areas of a family garden The medium height and bushy habit make it suitable for low, informal hedging between lawn, play areas and seating spaces, offering gentle structure without harsh lines for a relaxed family garden.
Urban front garden with limited planting space This bed rose gives concentrated summer flowering in a relatively small footprint, so even short borders by townhouses or terraces gain a strong seasonal highlight while remaining straightforward to maintain for busy-owners.
Sunny border in heavier or moisture-retentive soil Once established, the own-root plants adapt well and form a stable shrub, provided basic drainage is ensured for wetter Irish conditions and heavier garden soils, offering dependable growth for long-term.
Heat-exposed flowerbed near walls or paved areas Good tolerance of heat and moderate drought means it keeps its ornamental value beside driveways, patios or south-facing walls where reflected warmth can challenge fussier roses, supporting lower-watering gardens.
Feature planting in a large patio container In a 40–50 litre or larger container, a single NAGYHAGYMÁS can give a rounded, pink-flowering feature on balconies or terraces; the moderate height keeps it in proportion and easy to tend for container-rose users.
Simple family bed with perennials and shrubs Over three seasons the plant focuses first on rooting, then on building its framework, before delivering its full summer display, fitting well into mixed beds where You prefer gradual, reliable development for home-gardeners.

Decorating ideas

  • Cottage Drift – Plant 3–5 NAGYHAGYMÁS in a loose curve with Geranium sanguineum and dwarf asters for a soft pink-and-lilac edge – ideal for lovers of relaxed cottage borders.
  • Front-Door Welcome – Line a short front path with evenly spaced plants to create a low rose avenue that greets visitors with pink clusters – suited to homeowners wanting smart kerb appeal.
  • Calm Corner – Combine this rose with soft grasses and a small hydrangea to form a quiet seating nook where the rose gives a gentle summer highlight – perfect for private relaxation spots.
  • Urban Ribbon – Use NAGYHAGYMÁS as a continuous strip in a narrow city front bed, underplanted with lavender or rosemary for scent and texture – great for compact, low-effort facades.
  • Container Focus – Place a single plant in a 40–50 litre pot by a patio chair, adding trailing herbs or verbena around the base – best for balcony or terrace gardeners wanting one strong focal point.

Origin and breeding Originated in Hungary, bred in 2004 by Márk Gergely. Parentage data are unknown. Introduced and distributed by PharmaRosa Ltd.; formal registration and introduction dates are not documented.
Growth and structure Low, bushy shrub, around 40–60 cm high with a 75–105 cm spread. Moderately dense, mid-green, slightly glossy foliage and moderate prickliness; suitable for bedding, edging and low hedging.
Flower morphology Medium-sized, double cupped flowers with 26–39 petals, produced in clustered inflorescences. Non-remontant: provides a single, notable main flowering period rather than continuous reblooming.

Fragrance and aroma No noticeable fragrance; selected primarily for colour and bedding performance rather than scent. Best used where visual effect and structure are more important than aromatic contribution.

Resistance and hardiness Moderate resistance to powdery mildew, black spot and rust; may need occasional protection. Rated H4, suitable down to about -7 to -4 °C; USDA zone 9a, Swedish zone 1, with good heat and drought tolerance.
Horticultural recommendations Best in full sun with reasonable drainage, especially in heavier or wetter soils. Space 55–100 cm depending on use; 2.4–2.7 plants/m² for mass planting. Own-root stock supports long-term structure and regeneration.

NAGYHAGYMÁS offers soft pink bedding colour, a compact bushy habit and good heat tolerance, while its own-root form supports long-lived, reliable planting; consider it if You want a straightforward rose that simply settles in and performs.

Information about the videos
The video series is not a “seasonal showcase”, but makes the essence of pharmaROSA® own-root production tangible: how the plant is built, what the root system is like and how the shoots renew themselves. The footage was therefore taken at different times, showing plants at different stages of development, so mixed leaf coverage or differing growth stages may appear in the videos. This is not a “sample” of the batch delivered, but an illustration of how the technology works. The current condition of the rose available to order — typical of the given period and similar to what you can expect to receive in the parcel — is shown at the top of the product page.
