Origin and breeding
Bred by Reimer Kordes, W. Kordes & Sons, Germany. Cross of ‘Bonanza’ × ‘Robusta’. Introduced and registered in 1989 as a vigorous, park-suitable shrub with enhanced health and garden performance.
Awards and recognitions
ADR award (ADR-Sorte) 1992 for garden performance and health under no-spray trials. American Rose Society Classic Shrub Rose award 2012, confirming its long-term value as a reliable shrub rose.
Growth and structure
Upright shrub 140–200 cm high, 110–160 cm wide. Very dense, glossy dark green foliage (RHS 139A) on strongly thorned shoots. Forms a full, bushy outline suited to hedges, groups and specimen planting.
Flower morphology
Semi-double, cup-shaped flowers with 17–25 petals, borne in clusters. Large bloom size (approximately 7–10 cm), repeating well with a particularly abundant second flush. Moderate self-cleaning of spent petals.
