Snövit™ is a white polyantha bedding rose from the Bedding rose collection, marketed as a shrub rose for garden use; it is an unregistered variety with the ARS exhibition name Snövit and verified cultivar authenticity.
Origin and breeding
This cultivar is a white colour mutation of ‘Dick Koster’, bred in the Netherlands around 1929 by D. A. Koster and F. J. Grootendorst (M. Koster & Zonen), later distributed internationally as a reliable, compact cluster-flowered bed rose.
Growth and structure
Snövit™ forms a compact, bushy shrub 50–75 cm high and wide, with dense, mid-green glossy foliage and very few prickles. It branches freely, creating even mounds of growth suited to edging, low hedges, mass planting and smaller containers.
Flower morphology
The variety bears small (0.5–1.5 in), semi-double, ball to pompon-shaped blooms with 13–25 petals, produced in dense clusters. It remonts strongly, with a particularly abundant second flush, and has moderate self-cleaning, benefiting from occasional deadheading.
