Climbing rose from the pharmaROSA ORIGINAL range. Registered cultivar name TANklewi, trade name Tanklewi® Climbing rose TANklewi, also exhibited as Lawinia in American Rose Society shows.
Origin and breeding
Bred by Mathias Tantau Jr. in Germany, 1980. Introduced and initially distributed by Rosen Tantau. Belongs to the large-flowered climber group, selected for ornamental garden and exhibition use.
Growth and structure
Vigorous climbing growth, 250–400 cm high and 150–260 cm wide. Forms dense, dark green glossy foliage on moderately thorny canes. Suitable for arches, pillars, pergolas, walls and tall garden structures.
Flower morphology
Large, 2.75–3.95 inch cup-shaped double blooms with 26–39 petals. Flowers mostly in clusters. Remontant habit with an abundant second flush, offering extended ornamental value during the season.
Colour and phenology
Mid-deep pink with a subtle coral undertone. Buds open medium to raspberry pink, fading gradually to softer pastel shades with slightly lightened petal edges. Colour retention moderate across repeated flushes.
Fragrance and aroma
